TITLE: NOT OF THE WORLD
TEXT: II CORINTHIANS 4:3, 4
Introduction: In today's secular society it is easy to serve 2 masters-Christ and the world. But this cannot be. Let us see where the Bible puts its emphasis.
I We Are In The World
a) To serve the Lord (John 17:1 1 )
b)To serve others (II Cor 4:34)
c) To grow in service (II Peter 3: 18)
II We Are Not Of The World
a) We belong to God (John 17:14)
b) We died with Christ (Romans 6:14)
c) We walk in the spirit (I John 2 :5, 6)
III We Have Overcome The World
a) Though Satan tempts us (I John 17: 15)
b) For the Lord is with us (II Thess 3 :3)
c) And Is able to keep us (Jude 24)
Conclusion: There is no way in which a person can be a Christian and be part of the world. The boat (Christian) must be in the water (world) to be effective-but water must not get into the boat!
